Brief Description:  Wheel Fairings

Removed the front fairings and cleaned up the tape and clay on the mounting brackets. The epoxy-flox formed the recommended pockets around the mounting flanges to help support the fairings structurally.

Prepared for the next step by coating the axel screws and washers with Baolube as a release agent and covering the axel extensions with packing tape. Cleaned the area around the axel screws, mixed up some stiff epoxy-flox (2 pumps) and applied it to the inside of the fairings around the axel extensions. Re-installed the front fairings with clecoes and mounting screws.

Confirmed that I had the center marks in the right places on rear half of the nose wheel fairing. Then created the center marks on the front half per the plans.

Marked the screw locations on the U-1013C-L and -R Nose Wheel Fairing Bracket
flanges, then based on my experiences with the main gear fairings I made the marks more pronounced with a red Sharpie by drawing a filled ~1/8" circle in the center of the marks.

Created the U-1024 Standoffs from 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 1 3/16 2024-T351 aluminum block per the plans. Used the drill press to drill the holes, starting with a #30 hole and working up to the 3/8" size over about 5 sizes. Used WD-40 as a lubricant while drilling.
Cut the aluminum blocks to shape on the band saw, then used the belt sander to finish the edge shaping.
