Brief Description:  Raised Fuselage Onto Work bench

Raised the fuselage off of the low dolly and onto one of the EAA standard benches.

Removed the horizontal stabiliizer with elevators attached to reduce the weight on the tail, and because it needed to be removed before moving to the airport. Taped the elevators to the stabilizer with duct tape, protected the trailing edges with 1/2" pipe foam insulation, and wrapped it in moving blankets held in place with wraps of plasitic stretch wrap (moving supplies).

Attached a pair of 1" x 6 ft. lifting slings, one to the center of each wood block attached to the main wing struts by lifting rings from Tractor Supply. Ran each sling up to a 2x4 with 1" notches in each end used as a spreader bar, and then to the overhead winch hook centered over the spreader bar. With the assistance of Kristi and Patti, used the winch to lift the fuselage off of the low dolly and as high as possible, which just allowed the EAA work bench (with a moving blanket taped on top) to be slid under the fuselage. Had to pull down slightly on the tail to raise the front ot the fuselage so the bench would fit under the flat section of the bottom skin. Then lowered the fuselage down onto the work bench. Tied off the tail to ceiling joists at an angle to stabilize the fuselage on the workbench.
