Brief Description:  Installing Cabin Top

Re-installed the fiberglass cabin top for the final time.

Clecoed the top to the fuselage. Applied a small bead of Pro-Seal the to rear flange of the cabin top, and then clecoed the forward tail cone top skin into place. Used a quart zip lock bag with a cut corner to apply it but found it didn't work very well as most of the Pro-Seal stuck to the inside of the bag and didn't want to squeeze to the bottom corner. (Will try a snack size zip lock bag next time.)

Realized after installing everything that the backing aluminum strip for the rear flange rivets of the cabin top wouldn't slip into place under the overhead console. Had to remove most of the tail cone top skin in order to slip the backing strip ‌into place and hold it with a couple of clecoes while re-attaching the tail cone top skin.

In bucking the tail cone rivets, I had to un-bolt the air conditioner evaporator from the shelf and move it aside to reach a number of the overhead rivets. Also had to remove 2 of the bolts on each side that hold the evaporator shelf to the longerons in order to install rivets in the tail cone top skin lower sides.

There were about 6 - 10 rivets that I couldn't reach with any of my bucking bars. I ordered a small bucking bar last week which will hopefully allow me to reach these. This bar arrived by mail late today, so will try it out tomorrow.

At the end of the day, the cabin top is mostly installed, with the longeron bolts re-installed. Had to order addtional CS4-4 pulled rivets from Van's as I ran out before fully riveting the cabin top into place.

Note: I spent most of the day on my back/side in the tail cone bucking rivets and removing/re-installing bolts. This was not a fun exercise!
