Brief Description:  Cut Opening for USB Power Units & Painted the Pane

Decided that the location in the side cover panels beside the rear seats near the front of the panels was going to be the best place for the USB power ports. These may fit in the space with use of right angle Stake-On connectors, but it not I will solder pigtail wires to the terminals, cover with heat shrink, and then add a molex connector to the pigtail wires so that it will fit without risk of shorting out to the fuselage side.

Cut the rectangular openings for the USB power units by drilling #40 holes in the corners, 3/8" starting holes near the middle of each side, and cutting the opening using the saber saw. Cleaned up the cut edges with a fine file.

Roughed up the prior paint on these 2 panels with red Scotch Brite pad, cleaned off the Sharpie marks with acetone, then lightly dusted with tack cloth. Selected one panel previously painted that was not smooth enough and prepared for another coat with Scotch Brite and tack cloth. Also prepared one of the rear seat backs previously painted to re-coat.

Used a new siphon feed spray gun with 1.8mm nozzle purchased this morning from Northern Tool, which is advertised as good for use with thicker paints. After cleaning the new gun by spraying clear water through it, I loaded it with fresh undiluted paint. This gun sprayed the paint well, laying down a consistent coat with about the right thickness, so I proceeded to paint the panels prevously prepared today. Will see how they look tomorrow after they have dried, but I am optimistic I may have finally found the right tool for this job.
