Brief Description:  Glued Overhead Console to Cabin Top

Prepared overhead lighting wires for the baggage area with crimp on connectors.
Anchored the wires run in the overhead console using RTV to fasten them to the inside of the console.

Installed 6 additional K1000-8 nut plates to anchor the rear baggage area covers, since several of the original screw points are covered by the overhead console and so un-usable.

Installed the eyeball vents into the overhead console in the holes previously cut, then covered them with plastic bags taped on the outside to protect them while gluing.

Prepared the mounting flange of the overhead console and the matching area of the cabin top for adhesive by sanding with 80 grit and then cleaning these areas with acetone.

Placed a large (~1/4") bead of Lord adhesive along the console mounting flanges. Then placed the console into the cabin top which was upside down on the shop floor (on a movers blanket). Initially placed the console onto short small cardboard boxes to hold it off the cabin top while positioning it. Removed the forward box allowing the console to sit on the cabin top and installed #40 clecos to hold it in place (holes were drilled for these clecos several months ago). Removed the middle and back boxes to allow the console to drop into place along the length of the cabin top, and then installed the remaining clecos from front to back to hold it in place while the adhesive sets. Cleaned up the excess adhesive that squeezed out in places using popsicle sticks to remove most excess and denatured alcohol to clean up the remainder.

In the process of gluing the console into place, some of the adhesive got onto the coiled lighting wires at the back end. Had to uncoil the wires and clean off the adhesive using de-natured alcohol. A recommendation for others in the future would be to place these wires inside of plastic bags to protect them duiring gluing.

Left the heater on in the shop set to 67 deg. overnight to help with adhesive curing.
