Brief Description:  Cabin Overhead Lights

Re-installed the fiberglass cabin top onto the fuselage in order to determine locations for overhead lights received this week. Determined the lights should be installed into the aluminum panels that came wth the overhead console, with the front seat lights approximately centered between the door hinges, and the rear lights placed near the forward end of the rear panel.

Unfortunately, the lights I ordered and received are too large in diameter to fit properlly into the overhead console due to the switch being placed into a round mounting ring. The eyeball lights should fit if removed from the mounting ring, with the switch installed separately in front of or behind the light. While the switches are easily removed from the mounting ring, the lights are held by press-on metal fasteners that don't want to easily come off of the nylon mounting shafts.

Checked with the supplier and the eyeball lights are available individually without the mounting rings, but they do not carry the rocker switches that come with the assembled units. Will need to decide how to proceed.

Reviewed possible antenna locations. Checked with Van's Aircraft on ability to mount the GPS antennas on the top of the fiberglass cabin top, and was told that they do not recommend drilling any holes in the cabin top that are not called out on the plans due to structural strength of cabin top in a roll over event.

Drilled holes through the left back seat support ribs to route the A/C hose from the condenser to the left side wall and then forward to the firewall.

Installed the bare hoses from the condenser location to the left side and along the left side in existing holes forward to the firewall. Installed the bare hose along the right side from the tail cone forward to the firewall using existing holes. (Had to remove conduit previously run from the tailcone to the front in order to run the hoses in the same holes. Installed the hose from the right side condenser location back to the tail cone through existing lightening holes
