Brief Description:  Overhead Console Fitting

Started the day by reviewing requirements for mounting the A/C condenser scoop to the bottom of the fuselage. However, with the fuselage currently sitting low on a dolly it is not possible to find the aircraft center or work on the scoop location. Will likely have to wait until the fuselage is up on its landing gear before mounting the scoop and condenser.

Began the process of fitting the Aerosport Interiors overhead console to the fiberglass cabin top. Re-installed the control panel assembly on the front of the fuselage with clecos, and then installed the previously fitted cabin top and tailcone front top skin. Found the center of the console and marked it on both ends, as well as the center of the fuselage at the baggage bulkhead and the front of the cabin top. Inserted the overhead console into the fuselage and clamped it in the center at the baggage bulkhead and front of the cabin top. Found the step in the area of the rear windows did not match the step in the console.

Cut the console to open up the flange on both sides at the cabin top step in order to allow the console to sit flat. This took several cuts and tests before opening it up enough to fit flush. The cut the front flange of the console to match the front of the cabin top. Outlined the rear flange of the console onto the baggage bulkhead to allow location of the A/C fan discharge within the area of the console rear flange.
