Brief Description:  Fitting Cabin Top

Removed the forward top tailcone skin, and then the fiberglass cabin top in order to trim the rear flange of the top. In measuring this flange, which had been trimmed to the scored line per the plans, I found that the scored line was closer to 1" from the flange offset vs. the plans called for 3/4".

Marked the rear flange for a 3/4" depth and cut it down with a diamond cutting wheel in the Dremmel tool, then sanded it smooth. Also further sanded the taper for the wind screen at the interface with the F-1071 skin as shown in the Fig. 1 exploded view onf Pg. 43-4.

Removed the control panel assembly that had been clecoed on the fuselage and set it aside along with the fiberglass cabin top. Will complete the fuel lines in the forward tunnel running from the aux. pump discharge to the FT-60 flow transducer and then from the FT-60 to the firewall tube fitting once the FT-60 arrives from Aircraft Spruce tomorrow afternoon. Once the fuel line is completed, will rivet the control panel assembly into place and then paint the interior prior to re-installing the cabin top.

Will also install the overhead console into the cabin top once it is received next Tues. from Aerosport. By installing it before fastening the cabin top, I will be able to let gravity help hold the console in place while gluing it into the cabin top. I will also wait until the console has been installed before match drilling the cabin top, so that any slight changes in shape as a result of the console addition will be reflected in the match drilled holes.
