Brief Description: Stab and elevator tips continued, Rudder base tip
Fitted the stab tips, match drilled top and bottom and then cleco'd in place.....pulled a plumbbob line across the stab to determin the proper trim line, marked my lines on the left and right tips - top and bottom, and then removed and trimmed...a little at a time to get a perfect match. Made up the insert ribs by cutting then inserting and epoxying in place foam rib, once dry I added a resin and micropballoons filler/bond to the foam to reinforce it and create a sandwhich with an already cut and fitted balsa rib. When the assembly had dried I simply machined down the balsa and foam to make a perfectly flush and super strong tip end, the rib was also reinforced inm place with lightweight glass cloth. The tips were fitted and removed several times to achieve the best fit and trim. The rudder base tip was trimmed for the last time and removed so that from it I could draw up the reinforcing rib template. Final drilled the match-drilled pilot holes to 1/8 for CS4 pop rivets or nutplates at final installation.
