Brief Description:  Canopy latch begun, slotted the fuz wall

I had jumped ahead of the instructions somewhat for a number of reasons when I successfully fitted and then lined up the two deck skins as described in my previous log, deciding I wanted to bring the canopy work back up to date I started at the first steps of the Canopy chapter that had not yet been completed which were the 'canopy latch release' instructions.

First steps involved fabricating the necessary parts as is the case at the start of every section. There are a number of parts fabricated from scratch and some that were factory formed or cut but required cleaning up and finalizing. I found these particular parts to be badly pressed and cut, some were mishapen and it took almost 3/4 of my day just cleaning, trimming, reshaping, straightening and prepping all the parts for the hatch. This involved trimming the redundant arm off the steel latch weldment.

With this done I began the process of assembling the mechanism on the nech to properly understand the function and the role of each part so that each could be properly adjusted. The links from the arm to the weldment required bending to allow proper movement in assembly which I confirmed by looking t other builds online.

I also began the scary task of cutting the fuz side wall for the latch, first step was to photocopy the location drawing at 1;1 then i pasted the drawing to the appropriate postion by punching the rivets on the drawing and matching them to the wall, the cutout was transfered to the wall from there.
