Brief Description:  panel primed and fitted, vent brackets made up, de

Today I started by fitting the panel in it's absolute final postion and measuring and making sure of that,I had to remove some twist that had krept into the deck assembly and check the squareness of it all, then I clamped it in place and marked and punched the holes in the deck and longerons for the panel attachment brackets, these are screwed to the panel with nutplates but are riveted to the cabin as a fixture. I also spent some time making templates for the left and right vent brackets which are necesary to finalize the panel and deck installations. I did this on paper and then transfered to the angle material, the radius of the semi circular cutout was determined by clamping the part on the table and then marking with the calipers a perfect round. I started fabricating these parts which required fitting and trimming a number of times.
When these are finalized and primed I will install them in the cabin and then the panel can be fixed in place which will close that chapter of this project until the avionics units need installing.

I also continued with a view to finalizing the deck rivets, first the outstanding rivets on the right subpanel were squeezed, then the rivets on the panel ribs and various bbrackets were final riveted to the firewall and deck. I have about 20 or so rivets left to do with help and then I can install the hinge blocks permanently as well as the deck skin and then the canopy release and then the forward fuselage structure will be complete, thus closing chapter 8! That should all happen tomorrow which will be a nice end to the week, then Monday I can begin Chapter 9 'the canopy'
