Brief Description:  Firewall revisited, stripping and ducts

After discussion with a fellow builder and then some research, my previous information that the recess could be fixed in place at this stage was found to be incorrect and impractical. I elected to remove the recess and all traces of sealant used to fix it in place, which was thouroughly cured by now. A lot of stripper and sweat and careful lifting had it off and then I began stripping and cleaning the firewall at the cutout and on the edges, I also cleaned up the previously sealed bolts holes etc and just 'neatened' the sealant on these parts. the recess was stripped and all sealant and paint is being removed. The firewall was cleaned in it's entirety and the recess holes were cleaned and then re drilled and deburred. Some research and consultation with other builders informed the make up of the transducer manifold which I primed and also moved from it's previous mounting position to a better and suggested lower position, I pilot drilled and then final drilled, deburred and cleco'd it in place on the firewall. The right hand duct assembly was riveted in place as per the left side of the previous day and the ducting assembled in readied for mounting to the panel as per the left. The ducts themselves were cleaned up and then the inside edges sealed with silicone sealant, after some rubbing out scratches and cleaning the surfaces in the area around the ducts both were cleaned and masked closed to prevent FOD for the duration of the build and the later painting process.
