Brief Description: Strips bonded in, glassing begun
Got in this morning and as suspected the balsa strips bonded and clamped overnight with the 1:1 resin have not held so they had to be removed and the set resin stripped from the tips...the strips had to be replaced so I cut some more from the balsa sheet.
After epoxing the new strips in with a glue epoxy (quick setting aswell) I began glassing the set strips with epoxy resin and medium weight cloth although I soon found this cloth to be unsuitable and switched to the heavier bi-weave cloth which is much easier to lay up and holds and shapes much better too. Working with epoxy resin is new to me so a bit of a learning curve with some mistakes and the difficult and tight areas not making it any easier.
Got the foam strips glassed with 2 layers and the first two strips, one of which I tried with poly resin - not much better or any better than the epoxy though.
