Today I pulled out the pitot head and mast and despite any instructions or examples match-drilled the two parts together then filed and trimmed and fitted then screwed and bonded the head to the mast which I then taped up to seal and poured casting resin into. All gaps were cleaned up and the edges made from the cured casting - the open end of the assembly was sealed up with sealant and the entire assembly cleaned and sanded for surface finish where the assembly will look like one unit.
Had to also use my initiative in figuring the way to mount it to the access plate which fits to the wing but found a good solution where I cut the access plate to fit over the pitot until the pitot flange seats against the inside of the plate where it will be riveted and the gaps filled and finished to again look like one unit with no steps and a smooth blend from the mast to the plate, a lot of foam was sanded and shaped to get this right and I just about have it.
