Brief Description: R Wing tip, all landing light mounts made up, tip
Continued the trimming and fabricating, edging, deburring etc of the lamp mounting plates and parts for the light assemblies in the wing tips.
Also made up the wing tip inserts from a very dense foam, once I achieved perfect fit several lightening holes were cut in to lighten the part. I will cut these inserts from a lighter, thicker foam with possibly one or two extra inserts to ensure the tip holds it's shape, these will all be epoxied then glassed in place permanently. The necessary trailing edge insert part W-412 was edged trimmed and fitted in the trailing edge giving the tip the necessary profile to properly and cleanly fit the wing root rib. The flange edges were squared and cleaned by hand to assure proper fit of the wing skins.
The wing tip light lense cover was final trimmed a number of times until I got a perfect fit, was then taped in place and 6 holes drilled in assembly. The holes were then final drilled to no21 and countersunk for tinaman washers and no8 screws into platenuts installled in the tip. The completed tip was fitted to the relevant wing but the final skinning of both wings is necessary before I can final fit and drill and install the tips.
