Brief Description:  riveting of deck, canopy ribs

Today I continued work on the riveting of the deck structure, to the cabin, to the firewall and and all the fittings but didn't do much before I re-focused my attention on finalizing my panel rib stiffener mod at lest on one side to be sure of the concept before repeating on the right side.

Having designed an appropriate stiffener for the Panel ribs I fabricated the left first. This involved fitting and trimming then fitting again, several times to get the desired stiffening of the structure but still giveing the clearance needed for the hinged canopy frame travel and the frame was fitted in an approximate position (as best I could determine by measuring and getting a flush fit and even gap with the front deck skin and shroud skins installed). When I was happy I finalized the stiffener by deburring and machine sinking for the flush head rivets I chose to secure it with, edge deburring and then prepping and priming of the part.

It was clecoed in place and then riveted in position on the rib first and then to the sub-panel. The result was a greatly improved and strengthened rib, tested with the panel face screwed in place. I then tidied up the structure by trimming the parts of the rib sticking out over the stiffener and then deburred all the worked edges and re-primed the entire assembly in place with a few well placed and short sprays with the touch-up gun and a quicker drying ratio of hardener to primer mix.
