Brief Description:  Cable brackets and installation of cables and brac

Drew up the forward engine control cable bracket - part F-746 - template and transfered the layout to the supplied, pre formed part. This included a slim shaped profile to match the aesthetic of the Panel and the hole spacing for the cable knobs and verniers in such a way as to make it properly accesible and ergonomic for the pilot and passenger. With the bracket shaped and the holes marked and punched I set up a jig for the drill press and drilled the 4 holes , two at 19mm, one at 12 and a 9.7mm hole for the cabin heat knob which I elected to install closest to the pilot, as per standard for light aircraft the order was Throttle, Pitch, Mixture.

Made up the bracket, deburred, edged, buffed and then primed. The nutplates were installed as per the instructions and the bracket accordingly fitted to the installed panel - quite a feat with the panel in place in the now tight cabin! With all this work completed and a very good looking bracket and knobs in place I became concerned with the spacing of the large knobs considering the larger hands of the owner - even my small hands were a little less than comfortable when operating these knobs and verniers as one would in normal flight. I needed to rethink this and ask for advice...
