Brief Description:  Filling and casting the tips,

With all the tips drilled in place and fitted and matched, I went about masking up and filling the open faces (balsa) with a resin-microballoons mix, I poured the mix into the cavities and onto the masked faces to cure through the weekend. Special care was taken to retain the concave face of the fin tip by adding more thickened resin mix to the sides as it dried. The results were pretty good after a few hours drying although I was concerned about how well the resin would cure due to the thickness. Worked on the face of the elevator horns, the lead balance had to be carefully shaped to the surrounding walls of the fiberglass tip fitted to it. Some consultation with fellow builders informed the technique of getting the lead and plastic tip squared off by filing away material (which was all collected on the floor to be melted back into the weight) and then masking up and pouring resin on the metal and lead faces to fill all the holes and get a flat consistent surface across all components of the horn 'face'. The cured resin could then be shaped accordingly to fit the matching stab tip.
