Brief Description:  Mounting VP-X Pro

I spend a LOT of time measuring and designing the tray for the VP-X. I want to put it under the instrument panel. I just don't have much room. Part of the problem is the routing of the brake lines - they are right where I want to mount the tray.

I tried re-routing the brake lines. The first attempt was to switch to 90 degree fittings in stead of 45. That didn't work - you can't turn the second 90 - the first interferes with it. So, I went back to the 45's and reassembled the system.

To get a good measurement on the tray, I decided that I needed to mount the baggage compartment floor - for the first time in years. I found an interference from - you guessed it - the brake system.

I ended up drilling out the rivets for the parking brake braket and starting the fabrication for a new one. The new bracket will lower the parking brake control 0.250" to allow its mounting bolt to fall below the floor - instead of on the cernterline of the floor. This won't really help the clearance for the VP-X, but it will allow the baggage floor to fit well.

Once I started, I roughed out a new bracket in 10 minutes. I need to drill it and mount it tomorrow, then resume work on the VP-X tray. Then - back to wiring!
