I re-checked the alignment today with everything bolted in place. It was a good thing, I had a little bend in the rear spar of the VS. (only 1/16th inch, but still enough to bind a little). The fix was simple - I removed the VS and mounted it to the rear of the angle attachment instead of the front. No sweat.
I drilled the VS front spar to the angle attachment and then riveted the assembly together. I then bolted it together for the umpteenth time.
I read ahead in the instructions. It looks like the HS has to come off for trimming. So the VS has to come off too. Oh well, I am getting good at squeezing my hands into tiny places.
