Brief Description:  Prop Governor Bracket

Just before lunch, I had a pretty good proof-of-concept bracket made up of .040 aluminum. This was not intended to be strong - just to get a quick fit. I used my box brake to quickly form the prototypes.

In the process, I found that I was over-complicating the bracket. I removed a lot of lines to make fabricaiton easier.

I tried using one layer of .063 alumiinum for the "arm". I hooked it up to the control and found a little movement in the bracket. I decided to double up.

I also found that I had a piece of 2"x1 1/2" Aluminum angle in the scrap bin. This made mounting very simple. Cutting the complex angles for the part proved a little challengin. The bottom is rotated 35 degrees from perpendicular to move the mounting point aft of the snorkel.

I mounted the final part. Fit is good. The shorter bracket solves the chafing problem with Version 3. The material thicknes is .125 - plenty strong enough and very simple to build.

Finally, I can move on!
