Met with EAA Tech Counselor (to be), Tom Posta. He explained the way that he riveted the skin. Seems like a much better way to do it. Center ribs are riveted to the front spar and the assembly is riveted to the skin. This required removing HS404 from the front spar (Drilled out two rivets.)
I attempted to back rivet - this resulted in the rivet bending over. I had been using the longer -4 rivets to provide more material for the dimple area. I changed to bucking and riveting from the outside and also using the shorter rivets. That seemed to work fine and there appears to be enough material with the 3.5's Riveted in the center ribs and stared down the spar. Closing the skin looks a lot simpler with this approach.
Tom agreed to come up and inspect our work before we close out the rear spar area.
