Brief Description:  Prop Bracket

Hte prior prop control mount was adequate, but had some x and z bends that were not necessary.

I decided that offsetting the mount to align with the control lever would be easy and would improve the linearity and operation of the prop control. Image 1 shows the new alignment. However, Image 2 shows that there is still excessive ben in the cable. Tom concluded that it was OK, but not ideal We came up with offsetting the mount down 3/8th inch, improving the cable clearance with the cowling.

I created the vertical offset shown in Image 3, leaving all dimensions a little over-size to allow final adjustment. i carefully fit the control system together using cleco clams to temporarilly hold the mount to the arm. I was able to further straighten the travel and keep the needed cowling clearance. From there, I marked and drilled one mounting hole, clecoed it and reassembled to verify and drill the remaining holes. From there, I trimmed the bracket to fit

The bracket is made from 2"x2" .125 aluminum bracket. Virtually none of the angles were 90 degrees. I used the band saw to rough out, then sanded to the final shape.
