Brief Description: Straightening Baffle Seal Routing
The baffles take a nasty bend in the left rear as they joggle backwards to accommodate tle jog in the left rear cycliner. 90 degree turns are hard to completely seal. Two 90's this close is bound to leak.
I had made a nice plastic part to ease the transition. At Airventure, I saw several other builders simple solution: a false partition to straighten the baffle area.
I put a 3/4" thin aluminum angle at the bottom of the blue area. Then I formed up half a box on the pan brake. (Blue in photo). I will add a single bolt and spacer about mid-span to tie the two edges together for more strength.
The additional angle and the formed aluminum box adds needed rigidity to the oil cooler mounting assembly as a free bonus.
