I got up the courage to drill holes in the landing gear box. It would be nearly impossible to repair a mistake - whether it is violating a clearance distance or cutting through the already installed wire bundles or fuel lines.
I found guidance on an obsucre inset showing the engine control levers and a position on the aft side of the landing gear. I verified that there was plenty of clearance and drilled and deburred holes. No problems.
I measured the various cables. The ideal lengths seem to be - Prop Control 67" - Throttle 53" - Mixture 60"
