I finished up the switch panel. The major deal was to decide on the backup alternator.. I went with simple. The BU PlanePower alternator is set at 13.6V so it only kicks in if the main PP alternator fails. I had hoped to be able to select between the two alternator. The Plane Power foldks said thtat it is best to just put the alternatoes in parallel. The BU alternator kicks in when the main alternator falls out.
The Vertical Power drops the field when the voltage goes over the limits - about 16 V. But PP says that the main alternator will simply dropo off off-line. The BU takes over. The hope is that the primary alternator takes itself off-line without taking the BU off-line. But worst-case, the battery will carry the cockpit for 30+ minutes
