So... after drilling the #30 holes in the brackets I was quite dissatisfied with the alignment of the holes. I drilled small pilot holes, but the drill still wandered around a bit. I did not hole punch the holes prior to drilling because Van's says not to. Well, after mulling this over for a while I sent an email to Van's along with a picture of the brackets. There response was that the brackets look fine and to "get on with building". They also said using a hole punch to mark holes is fine on angle and heavier gage aluminum sheet stock. Even though Van's was ok with the brackets I was not. I ordered a new piece of angle stock and will build a third set of HS Brackets and will use a hole punch so the holes will be nicely aligned. I'm not really a perfectionist... just sounds that way :-)
