Brief Description:  Laying Up The Tooling Gelcoat Mold On The Plug

Before starting the lay up, two coats of mold release wax were applied to the flange surface. This was not removed, but allowed to dry and stay as it was. The orange tooling gelcoat was then applied by brush mildly thick, ensurring positive contact with the plug surface and the flange. After application was complete, but before the gelcoat began curing, the flange was positioned evenly around the plug perimeter.

After the gelcoat had began to cure, but was not completely set, the first layer of fiberglass mat was applied to the gelcoat with polyester resin. Two more layers of fiberglass mat were applied before the previous layer was completely cured.

The mold was then left to cure completely.
