Re-bent a completely new battery box to correct my failure to properly bend the 1/2" top opening 180 degree lips.
Clecoed all hinges in place on the box, then up-drilled all #40 pilot holes to #30 rivet holes. Then I dimpled each hole for the flush rivet head on the inside of the battery box.
Cut the piece for the battery retaining strap.
Cut, drilled and clecoed all four hinge pieces for the retaining strap, then up-drilled and dimpled to place a flush rivet head against the battery top. I then bent the retaining strap tothe proper angles for battery retention fit when hinges are pinned.
Clecoing side hinge to the battery box so that hinge lugs are flush with table surface (or firewall).
Bottom hinge clecoed in place. Note the 1/16" bend radius on the top edge lips.
Bending the battery retaining strap to proper form.
