Brief Description:  The Little Ribs

This evening, Dwayne and I spent some time cutting and routing the little pieces behind the aft spar. These are the flap and aileron nose ribs, and the aileron pocket ribs. These have some more intricate cuts in them, as they get routed, drilled, and then cut up to the drilled holes. You'll see it better in the pictures.

When routing something this small, there's a lot of potential for flying metal pieces when cutting the edges with the router. I'd just learned a trick about cutting aluminum on a bandsaw from one of the EAA Hints for Homebuilder's videos. So, after sandwiching the sheets between the form blocks, we cut any excess aluminum with the bandsaw within 1/8" or so of the form board. When we ran those pieces around the router, there was much less aluminum flying around, and we weren't at risk of any larger parts flying off and hitting anyone.
