Brief Description:  Engine Break-In

Plans:
1. Reassemble the empennage.
Status: Complete.
2. Perform engine break-in.
Status: Started. Breaking in the engine occurs over the first 20 hours. The Hobbs at start today was 0.9. Hobbs finish was 1.3. The engine started fine. I ran it at 3000 RPM continuous (light load). Max temperatures were 210 degrees indicated for coolant and 235 degrees indicated for oil. Measurement of the coolant temperature using an external temp probe at the thermostat were lower that indicated by about 10 degrees. This suggests that the calibration resistor is close to optimum. The first two runs were with the engine compartment cover off. The last run was with the cover installed. No clear difference in cooling performance was observed. I will let the engine cool down over night and repeat the process.
