Plans: 1. Fabricate the firewall penetrations. Status: Complete. Electrical wires and the fuel line need to pass through the firewall. To make a clean penetration, holes were cut for each line. Each hole is split between two opposing plates that retain a grommet containing the line. The assembly is then secured to the firewall. 2. Integrate the engine mount. Status: 80% complete. The mount is now secured to the firewall. Since nut plates are also attached to the firewall, the mount was bowing in the middle where they touched. To correct this spacers were added to the corners that elevate the mount off the nut plates. The spacers will also be used to further secure the engine to the fuselage. The heavier than typical engine requires some additional support. 3. Add the fuel filter and sensor to the firewall. Status: 90% complete. The sensor and filter have been hard mounted. Connections are pending the engine installation to confirm the placement.
