Plans: 1. Install the last of the plate nuts. Status: Complete. Just a few strips needed to be installed. 2. Rebuild the forward turtle deck. Status: Complete. So I did not like the earlier work quality of the forward turtle deck. This is the third attempt. I like this one. The first attempt used aluminum that turned out to be a little flimsy. The second attempt was thicker but the installation revealed the factory contours were a little off of optimum. This attempt corrected both issues. The part fits correctly now and it's sturdy. 3. Tailor fit the firewall. Status: In-work: OK, the firewall needs to maintain the lines of the turtle deck, fit within the plate nut strips and pass the engine mount bolts. The initial test fit went well after a few cuts. I expect to tweak is some more but the first test fit looks pretty good.
As an aside. I have been doing more work to prepare the hanger to work on the wings and mount the engine. I installed a winch above the loft to raise and lower the engine. I rearranged the tables and spruced things up to make more space. Last, I constructed a portable air conditioning unit to cool the hanger (me) down a bit. Temperatures run well over a 110 degrees inside the hanger at times. It wears you down fast.
