Plans: 1. Install guide tubes for the aileron cables. Status: Complete. Red PEX tubing was secured to the leading edge using gussets and hose clamps. It will serve to aid threading of the aileron control cable through the wing in the event removal is required. 2. Install Pitot Tube tubing guide. Status: 80% complete. As in the case of the aileron cable a similar guide was installed for the Pitot lines using PVC pipe.
Notes: I used hose clamps instead of rivets to secure the tubes to gussets. This keeps the tubing unobstructed internally for a clearer passage.
The advantage of the PEX tube over the PVC tube is that it is flexible. It turns out however that flexing of the tube wasn't required. The installed cable length was close enough that I decided to keep the tube straight.
For this build I elected to replace the supplied 14 foot cables with longer ones. The cables are available in one foot increments from Amazon. In my case I wanted the extra length to route the cable internal to the upper wing in addition to the lower wing.
