Plans: 1. Create a jack that can raise the air vehicle to aid tire changing and bungee replacement. Status: Started. The air vehicle is in the 800 lb. range. I noted that the bungee suspension is stretched out a bit and I would like to tighten things up by adding some additional wraps. I would like at least 10 wraps versus the 5 I have now. To do so requires I first take all weight off the wheels. Using a floor jack and stands tends to block access to the bungee cord. So I am trying to create a specialized jack that can do the job. Today I fashioned a 1 5/8" diameter three sectioned steel pipe to bridge the span of the gear. With this I was able to use a floor jack under the pipe to raise the entire craft. Some undesired flexing however was observed in the gear so I have more work to do. I don't want to stress the gear in ways that might damage it. Before my first flight I will need to strengthen the bungee suspension system.
