Brief Description:  Weight & Radio Installation

Plans:
1. Make more precise weight & C.G. measurements.
Status: Complete. So it would appear that in spite of the much heavier engine etc. I am not in need of much if any additional tail weight. In fact I will be looking for ways to lighten the tail. I decided to get a better tail weight measurement using a more direct method. Hanging on a scale in level flight yielded 29.2 lbs. including the wheel. Assuming another 6 lbs. for the tail feathers puts me at 35 lbs. This is the max I can tolerate without adding nose weight. Because of the short arm adding weight to the nose does not move the numbers much. So the concern now is that the weight of covering the fuselage will work against me. To that end I am going to lighten the tail as much as I can to give me some room to grow elsewhere if needed. The biggest tail weight is actually the Matco tail wheel at 7 lbs. alone.
2. Finish the radio installation.
Status: 90% complete. I was able to get the radio installed and wired. It performance tested fine but the Velcro is not holding well. I will need to improve the mechanical mount. The display is much easier to read than the earlier radio.
3. Add the EXPERIMENTAL sticker to the aileron linkage cover.
Status: Complete. Looks great.
