Brief Description:  Transponder & Engine Compartment Cover

Plans:
1. Do an engine run-up and temperature test.
Status: Complete. Another monthly engine run-up was due. This test was performed with the new louvers installed. Temperatures have always been a concern as previous tests did show a tendency to overheat. I also needed a way to verify the instrument panel temp gauge is accurately measuring the temperature. To do so I found some temperature tracking labels that adhere to surfaces to register max temperatures. The stickers registered 200 F when the gauge indicated 210 F. Close enough for now. The good news is that the louvers do appear to help. I raced the engine up and down from 3000 RPM for the test. It looks like the temperatures will be OK during idle but I did not run things long enough to be sure. At the time I didn't know what would happen so I only tested a short time.
2. Add mounting strips to the side fuselage panels for the Velcro tape. The strips give me a flat curved surface as opposed to tubes. More surface area for the glue will ensure a tight bond.
Status: Started.
3. Program the transponder.
Status. 0% complete. I tried programming the transponder but was unable to save the settings. I was missing registration information and it didn't seem to like that. I will need to make something up and try again.
