Plans: 1. Apply first coat of primer to the empennage. Status: Complete. The first of possibly six coats of an acrylic Latex primer was applied to the empennage. I rolled it on with a 4 inch foam roller. This coat revealed a few imperfections in the fabric but nothing big. Even though it appeared to dry quite quickly I am leaving it overnight to cure completely. A light sanding will follow between coats to smooth the finish. 2. Add a 12 volt DC to DC converter to the radio. Status: Complete. I wasn’t sure why the radio failed. It may have just been its time or possibly an incompatibility with the aircraft power. I have added a 12VDC to 12VDC converter in the power line to create a filter to the radio. I also attached it to supply the cigarette lighter outlet/jack. It appears to be working fine. Power to the outlet is 12VDC. The radio mount is supplying 9VDC.
