Plans: 1. Paint panels. Status: I started by painting the bottom fuse panels Bay Mist. The color will be used on all bottom surfaces. So far I am very pleased with the color. 2. Paint a test panel of the streaky Fokker finish. Status: Started. It turns out that the streaky finish is not as simple to achieve as I had hoped. I failed in my first three attempts to get something that looked decent. The last attempt shown here shows some promise. To get the effect I first painted the sample canvas with a tinted primer coat. The tinted primer was Sherman Williams Gleeful Yellow HGSW2197. Following that I used the Clever Mantis over the primer but only covering incompletely. Using random criss/cross strokes leaving some areas where the primer still showed. Last the Dark Meadow was applied in broad strokes over the Clever Mantis. After a short time drying a wet rag was wiped down the canvas to remove significant amounts of the Dark Meadow while blending it into the Clever Mantis. The result looks pleasing and somewhat weathered. I plan to try a similar example but reversing the use of the Clever Mantis and Dark Meadow. I suspect it will yield a darker green effect.
