Plans: 1. Assemble upper wing end ribs. The airfoils that make up the wings are held in place with gussets to the spars. Between the spars there is little support horizontally (airfoil separation) or vertically. The reinforced leading edge tends to make things fairly rigid however beyond this the tubing can still shift side-to-side. This is most concerning during the shrinking of the covering fabric. It has been reported that the end airfoils are susceptible to bending or warping when the fabric shrinks. To prevent this I decided to add stabilizing braces to the airfoil ends. Just as was done to the center section airfoils. Status: About 25% complete. There are four ends to reinforce on the upper wings. The first of the four was constructed today.
