Brief Description:  Airfoils & Cabanes

Plans:
1. Finish coping center wing section upper airfoils.
Status: 50% Complete. The leading edges of all seven upper airfoils were coped using the spindle sander. The trailing edges of all seven remain unfinished. The plan here is to use a gusset to connect the ends as opposed to pinning them together with the copper tubing.
2. Bend and cope center wing lower airfoils.
Status: 50% Complete. Seven center section lower airfoils were formed. The leading edges were coped. The trailing edges of all seven remain. Note that the plans call for only four lower airfoils ribs. The upper being a half airfoil to provide additional support to the fabric covering. I elected to add the additional three airfoil lower ribs to provide bottom support as well. I had noticed that Bert Sparrow's lower wing fabric looked like it was a little loose during a flight. I believe this lack of support might have been the issue. Additional ribs will also help strengthen the future C.W. handholds. The same missing rib situation is true for the remaining wing sections. Sam B. had reported that he had an issue covering without some additional support. The structure deformed a lot during the fabric shrink. His solution was to add some bridging reinforcement to the airfoils near the trailing edge.
3. Finish painting the cabanes.
Status: Complete. All cabanes and gussets are ready for reassembly.
