Brief Description:  Wing Scaffolding

Plans:
1. Erect the wing scaffolding. The wings must be held rigidly in place by scaffolding to assemble the overall structure. Lengths of the Cabanes and struts are tailored to the as-built dimensions. The process begins by leveling the carry throughs then the lower and upper wings to match in all dimensions. Following that the structural members are cut and coped and riveted in place. Finally, bracing wires are added to hold everything tightly together.
Status: I started by checking the assembled upper wing for any obvious problems. None were found. The fuselage was disassembled somewhat (wheels and panels removed) to allow for the addition of the scaffolding. Two outer scaffolds were constructed from 2x3 studs. A jig was placed along the firewall to aid positioning the leading edge of the upper wing. It is to be centered 3" behind the firewall and about 19" above the top surface. The front carry through was leveled and the rear of the aircraft tipped up such that both front and rear carry throughs are level from this point on.
