Plans: 1. Begin upper wing fabrication. Status: Started. I cut all the components for both right and left upper wings. Since the center section was slightly narrow and askew (about 1/16") I decided to adapt the thru holes accordingly. After joining the spars the holes were drilled measuring out from the exact center of the center wing section. The trailing edge holes were determined off a perpendicular from the leading edge. This should have the effect of forcing perfect alignment of the wing panels when joined. This would have happened naturally had the tube dimensions been exactly per the plan and squared perfectly. It is important that the compression struts of the upper wing are precisely above the lower wing compression struts. The āNā struts mate the upper and lower wings and would not be perpendicular otherwise. But in this case all the tubes were provided slightly short. That includes the main spars. The net change in upper wing length will be on the order of 1/4". I will true up the outside edges and measure in from there to place the ribs. The scale of the airplane is becoming apparent. One half of the upper wing with the center section took up the entire length of my 16 foot long bench.
