Plans: 1: Drill holes into the turtle deck for stitching the coming leather in the future. Status: Done. This task went fairly easily. I used the same pipe foam insulation to gauge the correct hole location and drilled 1/8" hole every inch. The holes will allow for passage of a sewing needle later. 2: Trim the brake pedals, fab and attach the top plate. Status: 90% complete. The brake pedals had been located and secured from the bottom only. During application this would have resulted in a torque on the bolts. While it probably would have held up given the strength of materials I was bugged that the stresses involved were unbalanced. To make a top plate I needed to conform the 1/8" stock to mate to the carry through. Getting the shape right took heat and time with a hammer. I haven't secured it yet as I still need to add the cables.
Last I trimmed the width of the brake pedals to allow for some additional heel space. Time will tell if they bend in use.
