Brief Description:  Seat

Plans:
1. Install seat.
Status: Done. I was able to install the seat today. Unfortunately the aluminum tubing I wanted for the support rails did not come in. So I elected to use a different tube so I could make progress. The new tubing was a little thicker walled (0.065) than the preferred tube. Once that change was made the next step was to bend it into the desired shape. That did not go well. After bending I found that the brackets I made would not line up with the curved tube cleanly. I decided to change from tube bending to coping tubes at right angles and securing them with gussets. It did take a little time to do it twice.

I couldn't resist climbing into my aircraft. I found that the seat was very comfortable. The aircraft was rock solid and held my 230 lbs. without any problem. Climbing out was a bit difficult. It is difficult to get enough arm leverage sitting low in the cockpit to rise out of the seat. The trick is to push backward into the seat using your legs until you are high enough to use your arms. Later when the top wing is installed you should be able to pull yourself up and out.
