Brief Description: Engine oil check door / Panel cover
I installed a oil level check door tonight, its just a metal door on a piano hinge. There is a backing plate made out of aluminum that provides a landing surface which is riveted to the cowling. The door is held close by a camlock fastener for easy access. I also fitted the panel cover tonight. This took quite a while to get correct, it was just a trial and error process with a cardboard template which I then transfered to an aluminum sheet. Once the sheet was cut I fit bumpers (weather stripping) around the edges to avoid sharp corners. This panel will eventually be covered in carpet and screwed to the panel.
