Brief Description:  Preparing VS-1204 skin

Not much building happened in the month of April, between a death in the family, some trips, and waiting for weather to warm up so we can prime. However, I did order the wing kit, which will come around June 15 - so we have five weeks to get all of our empennage parts primed and riveted.

Kevin and I are planning a major painting session for Sunday. What better way to spend Mother's Day? We want to prime all the vertical stabilizer parts this weekend, then rivet them during the week. Next weekend we'll prime the rudder and AST parts, and rivet them during that week. Then we'll have three weeks to prime and rivet the horizontal stablizer and tailcone.

In our earlier building efforts, we never really touched the skins. Now it's time. This is VS-1204, one of two vertical stabilizer skins. We had to final drill all the holes with a #19 bit, cut a little metal tab off, and deburr. Tonight we'll dimple all those holes (because they use flush rivets) and start working on the other, larger VS skin.
