Brief Description: Back from Oshkosh!

The FAA arrived July 16 for our inspection/certification. They were extremely helpful with the paperwork, and we passed. At 6:13 that evening, EN-I became an airplane at the hands of Jeff Malcomb, flying well right out of the box. In the next several days, Jeff and I flew off the required hours, and on Saturday the 21st, he flew it to Oshkosh. There were no problems, and the trip was done in two legs. He came within one minute of plan on each leg, slightly beating his planned flight time. The builders were thrilled to be reunited with EN-I as nine of them were at AirVenture.
During the show, the plane participated in the Van's parade, fling in the number two slot. It was in one forum, and the subject of another. thousands saw it on the ground and many times that saw it fly. It never presented any problem and looked good for the crowds.
Oshkosh is about people. All the builders met interesting, inspirational, and important people. From Jeff Skiles (copilot of the plane the splashed down in the Hudson) to Paul Dye (Director of the International Space Station to officials of the EAA, they were gracious enough to come and share their stories and meet the kids. Even our Chaplain attended, showing our guys yet another facet of the life we should live. It was a great experience.
EN-I is winding down, although some cosmetic things remain. EN-II continues, and soon will begin EN-II, -IV, V, and perhaps several others. Teen Flight agreed to join us under the Eagle's Nest umbrella, and we had many pledges of support. Follow these projects. Begin one of your own. I can now tell you from personal experience, you will have one fine airplane.
