Brief Description:  FAA visit, longerons

On Tuesday, three FAA officials from the Indianapolis FSDO came and inspected our work, then stayed and made a presentation to the students. It was very worthwhile, and I wil add part of the letter we received later in the week:

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for allowing us to visit and take time away from building the RV-12. Congratulations to you, the mentors, and your student staff on a well run project. The entire team was impressed by the quality of the work being produced and how each student seemed to work as part of a unit instead of just working alone. I was especially impressed by the student project manager. The young man was very aware of what was happening in the shop and was also very knowledgeable of the aircraft components and what stage of the building process they were in.

It is a joy to see people, young and old alike so interested in a common goal. If you would allow it I would love to attend the open house in February to see the result of the hard work put into the aircraft.

Please share our thanks with your staff and again congratulations on your project.

(Signed)

It made us all feel good. Nice comments, all...

School will be closed in the evenings next week for parent/teacher conferences, so we will do a couple evenings on the wings at the airport.
