Brief Description:  Fabric Covering - Fuse

The last two weeks have had a number of intruptions to the continued steady build....it's called life. The Fuselage is now fully covered with fabric. All seam tapes have been applied as well as the tapes over any structure touching the fabric - thereby making those areas double ply. All the tape edges were "ironed" to insure they are tight to the fabric and the 1st "cross-coat" of EkoFill primer was brushed on with a 3" foam brush (two coats in opposite direction i.e. "cross-coat"). When dried all of the surfaces were lightly sanded with 320 grit open coat sandpaper. 1 additional cross coat of charcoal Ekofill was applied by spray. Sanded again, then two cross-coats of EkoFill White were then sparyed on. (this will work better as a base for the Lemon Yellow color we've chosen. At the same time two cross coats of white Ekofill were applied to the one top Wing I had previously covered. They, again, need to be lightly sanded (again) in prep for the Yellow Color coats. I need to be more careful on this step as I actually sanded into the fabric in a couple of places on the Fuselage and needed to apply a "patch" over those areas. They were small and will not be easily visable so I believe this will still produce a good looking covering job and one that has the full strength and integrity it's supposed to have. It's really easy to push too hard with one's fingers when the fabric can be compressed to a solid surface underneath. That quick - one can sand right into the fabric. Lesson learned. I'll be more aware of that potential in the future sanding phases. The sanding takes huge amounts of time and a constant prepetative action....my old muscles and joints pay a big price for this kind of effort....I'll be needing to take a break from this for a couple of days and ease up on those muscles and joints or I'll pay a bigger price.
